Episode 5

Episode Summary

Humans are innately storytellers. We’re social creatures, and we yearn to connect with those around us. Dear listeners, forgive me, I’m a bit of a nerd when it comes to language and the power of expression. You may have heard of the quote from French philosopher René Descartes, “I think therefore I am,” but I’d posit that it goes past that–I speak therefore I am, or in our guest’s case–I write therefore I am. Devna Panda is a Voices Intern for The Wake, which is a is a (bi-weekly), student-operated arts, culture, and social commentary publication. The University of Minnesota students from many disciplines do all of the reporting, writing, editing, illustration, photography, layout, and business management for The Wake. Other than that she’s a junior biomedical engineering student trying to navigate the woes of college life just like the rest of us. Devna has authored several pieces for The Wake with discourse ranging from the BIPOC experience to managing friendships in the chaos of college life. Dear listeners, we’ve got a great episode in store for you today.
