GLA Fellowship

The Government & Legislative Affairs (GLA) team is the branch of our student government that works directly with elected officials and external advocacy organizations at the local, state, and federal levels to promote civic engagement and pass laws designed to improve students' lives. (Last year, the GLA team led initiatives to secure millions of dollars in University funding, pass Minnesota's tuition-free college legislation, establish new protections for student renters and sexual assault victims, advance federal anti-hazing legislation, and more.)

This year, our GLA staff team is offering a year-long fellowship opportunity for students passionate about policy research and political advocacy. Fellows will work directly with our GLA team — as well as with non-profit organizations, government staff, lawmakers, and more — to propose and/or support policy initiatives and pieces of legislation.

As a part of the GLA fellowship program, fellows will have a chance to start developing or strengthen their skills in research and political advocacy, forge connections to legislators and lobbyists, and become a voice for students at every level of government.
