About the Communications Team

The Communications Team is responsible for helping strategize and execute USG’s overarching communications and marketing strategies. It explains to students what organizational goals USG is working on and highlights those processes and results to the student body through different communication channels, such as social media accounts, monthly all-campus newsletters, and more. This team also works to uplift and represent student communities, events, and resources to engage students with involvement opportunities and provide them with what they need to have a better university experience.

Communications Team Positions

  • The Communications Director develops and leads USG’s communications and marketing strategies and supervised and supports their team in their roles. They are the primary point of contact for other teams and their projects!

  • The External Media Specialist executes much of the public-facing work that USG creates, such as authoring monthly all-campus emails and taking photo and video for USG, and they also strategize how to best connect external media sources like press and news outlets with USG.

  • The Social Media Specialist runs USG’s social media platforms and strategizes new ways to engage with students online. They work with all sorts of teams to satisfy their online promotional needs and helps highlight other student organizations and community events.

  • The Outreach Coordinator engages with the students, student groups, and other university community members to connect with them and seek out opportunities for university betterment. They are knowledgeable of current USG projects and initiatives and can help involve any students wanting to work with USG or any other group on campus, and they also help recruit during Welcome Week events

  • The Research & Data Coordinator creates surveys for students to help us get a better understanding on how we can create a better university. They conduct research, gather data, and analyze information to create detailed reports with recommendations so that USG and its teams can get a better idea of how to support students.
